DOBUTAMINE STRESS ECHOCARDIOGRAPHIC

This diagnostic test utilizes ultrasound to compare heart function at rest and during maximum activation. It is recommended for patients unable to exercise and involves the administration of a medication (dobutamine) in gradual doses. This medication simulates physical activity by increasing heart contraction force, frequency, and oxygen demand to evaluate blood flow to the heart muscle. The procedure includes acquiring initial images before infusion, at peak dose, and after discontinuing the medication for comparison. Throughout the medication administration, the patient is closely monitored, including electrocardiogram and blood pressure monitoring to ensure safety and accuracy of the assessment.
